2023 Abbott Claim Vineyard Pinot Noir

Our winemaking philosophy centers on terroir expression, natural vinification, and long-term quality, emphasizing the natural integrity of the fruit. We hand-sort the fruit of harvest in the open air, then allow the juice to ferment naturally in oak, concrete, and stainless steel vessels. Traditional techniques such as whole-cluster fermentation (approximately 30% for the 2023 vintage) and extended lees aging are utilized to achieve transparency and truthfulness, largely refraining from fining and filtering. The 2023 vintage was aged for 18 months in oak barrels (50% new) and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Critics describe the wine with a super floral nose, smelling like a bouquet of hyacinth and jasmine, with raspberry and pine resin aromas, as well as fresh cherries and cranberries with red spices, crushed pink peppercorns and wet stone. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, juicy, and agile with crunchy tannins and citrusy undertones.
