2018 HāLo

HāLo, Trefethen's most rare and beloved Cabernet Sauvignon, is sourced entirely from their Hillspring Vineyard. This robust wine is smooth and fresh with aromas of ripe raspberry, notes of pepper, bay leaf, and a touch of sarsaparilla. On the palate, it's a dark, dense wine with layers of plum and raspberry, and notes of baking spices and tobacco. The finish is sustained and powerful. The 2018 vintage offered ample rainfall, consistently warm and sunny summer temperatures, and cooler August and September which slowed ripening, leading to complex flavor development. October was mostly dry and warmer than usual, allowing for optimal ripeness. This wine offers power, balance, and beauty, with rich, structured, and impressively elegant notes of dark cherry and boysenberry, accompanied by hints of cedar and Herbes de Provence. The palate is brilliant with gorgeous, lush dark red fruit flavors beautifully balanced with vibrant acidity, leading to an enduring and enticingly graceful finish.
